AGSI  

AGSI (the Association of Ghana Solar Industries) is an industry association, founded by Ghana solar industry stakeholders to help provide a joint forum for discussion of current industry issues.

Established in March 2006, AGSI is open for membership to solar industrial companies, other renewable businesses and individuals in Ghana with the goal to seek a common front and to provide representation on the development of alternative energies in Ghana. It seeks to achieve this through consultations with the appropriate state agencies, donors and the private sector involved in policy formulation and regulations.

 

Main Objectives:

  1. To raise the profile of the solar industry.
  2. To improve quality of design/installation/maintenance.
  3. To introduce a membership accreditation programme.
  4. To develop standards within the industry.
  5. To seek funding for Projects.
  6. To arrange Training in Renewable Energy.

Membership

AGSI currently offers two membership levels

  • Associate Member
  • Industrial Member

AGSI Certifications

In order to help consumers decide on a reputable supplier for Solar energy AGSI has implemented a certification system. AGSI awards two certification standards:

 

AGSI CSEP Logo

  • CSEP - Certified Solar Equipment Provider
    • Granted to companies which provide quality solar products and equipment.
AGSI CSSP Logo
  • CSSP - Certified Solar Services Provider
    • Granted to companies which provide quality solar services.

REPORT OF STUDY TOUR OF SPAIN’S RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR BY PARLIAMENTARIANS AND ASSOCIATION OF GHANA SOLAR INDUSTRIES LEADERSHIP

INTRODUCTION

As part of the Association of Ghana Solar Industries[AGSI] advocacy to promote a more conducive policy environment for the solar industry, the president of AGSI , Mr Omane Frimpon and three representatives of the Parliamentary Committee on Mines & Energy undertook a visit to Spain to under-study the renewable energy industry of that country. The parliamentary team comprised the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ernest Kofi Yakah; the Ranking Member, Hon. Joseph Kofi Adda; and the Clerk to the Committee, Mr. Camillo Pwamang. The period of the visit was from Saturday, 15th to Saturday, 22nd October 2011. BUSAC funded the AGSI president and the two parliamentarians while the Energy Commission funded the Clerk to the Committee.
